Staying Safe & Recruitment Fraud
Protect yourself while you apply
How to recognise recruitment fraud, how fees should work, and how to report anything suspicious.
Warning signs to watch for
- Anyone asking you to pay for a guaranteed job, visa or placement. No legitimate recruiter can guarantee these.
- Requests to pay money into a personal bank account, or by gift card, crypto or an untraceable method.
- Pressure to decide or pay quickly, or to move the conversation off the official platform.
- Messages from free email addresses claiming to be Skillabour. Our emails come from addresses ending in @skillabour.com.
- Requests for passwords, or for payment to "release" a document, offer or visa.
About fees
Before you pay for anything, make sure you understand exactly what the fee is for and get it in writing. You should never feel pressured to pay, and you should never be asked to pay into someone's personal account. If a request about money does not look right, pause and check with us first.
Report suspicious activity
If you receive a message or request that seems to misuse the Skillabour name, or that shows any of the signs above, please tell us. Include as much detail as you can, such as who contacted you, how, and what they asked for.
